57th IPC to be held in Hyderabad, VC Nannapaneni elected as new president

The 57th Indian Pharmaceutical Congress (IPC) will be conducted at the Hitex in Hyderabad. The 2005 event, which will take place during December 2 to 4, will have the theme "healthcare in TRIPS era."

V C Nannapaneni, Chairman, Natco Pharma, has been elected as new president of IPCA for the purpose IPC 2005. The other office bearers are Dr Renuka Datla, chairperson LOC, J A S Giri, convenor, R Ranga Rao and Dr B Parthasarathy Reddy, co-chairmen. The organizing secretary for IPC 2005 will be M Kodandaram and Dr P Khadgapathi will be the co-convenor.

The 57th IPC with the theme, "Healthcare in TRIPS era," would focus on implications of TRIPS on healthcare and it will analyse the healthcare need in the WTO regime so that a path can be found between protecting research and innovation on the one hand and allowing technology to be used widely for human benefit at affordable cost on the other hand.
