Actavis has received approval from the US Food & Drug Administration to market sertraline hydrochloride tablets. Distribution of the product will commence immediately, a company release said.
Sertraline hydrochloride tablets, the generic equivalent of Pfizer's Zoloft tablets, are available in 25mg, 50mg and 100 mg strengths. sertraline hydrochloride tablets are indicated for the treatment of major depressive disorder, obsessive-compulsive disorder and panic disorder.
Annual brand sales of sertraline hydrochloride tablets in the US were approximately US$3.1 billion for the twelve months ending June 2006 according to IMS Health data.
