The Fourth Indo-US cytometry workshop will be organized at the Advanced Center for Treatment and Research & Education in Cancer (ACTREC), Tata Memorial Centre, Kharghar, at Navi Mumbai, from February 2 to 6, according to an official release.
The workshop will focus on application of cytometry in cancer diagnosis and therapy. It amalgamates application of cytometry in basic as well as clinical cancer research. The programme would also include a lecture series to acquaint the participants with novel approaches, newer developments in instrumentation, applications and experimental strategies along with hands on training.
The workshop is also expected to provide a forum for interaction with international experts in the field.
Some of the topics that would be discussed include principles and applications of cytometry, newer developments in instrumentation, immunophenotyping of leukemias and lymphomas, cytometry of solid tumours, apoptosis, mechanisms of action of anti-cancer drugs, cell cycle proliferation, metastatis, tumour markers, tumour immunology as well as cell signaling.
One of the highlights of the workshop would be its faculty, which comprises experts from the USA and UK, besides India. The faculty would include Dr Shubhada V Chiplunkar, Gopal Pande, Satyajit Rath, Amar Dasgupta, Krishna Sainis, K Naresh, from India, as well as Awtar Krishnan, L Scott Cram, T Vincent Shankey, Ravi Gupta, Meherdad Nadji, (all from the USA), besides Michael G Omerdad from the UK.
