AFMC, Pune to organize 33rd conference of Clinical Biochemists of India in Nov 2006

The 33rd National Annual conference of Association of Clinical Biochemists Of India from 23-26th Nov 2006 is being organized by the Department of Biochemistry, Armed Forces Medical College, Pune.

The event is planned to be held on a large scale with many National and International guest speakers of repute attending the conference. There will be 16 guest speakers from UK, USA, Australia and SAARC countries expected to address on topics like "Role of circulating plasma nucleic acids in diagnosis and therapy; Endocrine Assays: Challenges and the state of the art Tandem Mass Spectrometry and Recent advances in lipid metabolism".

Around 1,500 delegates are expected to attend the session that will include practicing Biochemists from India and abroad. This conference will also cover an entire range of recent advances in five pre conference CME's (Laboratory Management, Molecular Diagnostic Techniques, Bio safety in Laboratory with special reference to HIV, DNA Fingerprinting and Stem Cell therapy) and two workshops (Variant Electrophoresis and High Pressure Liquid Chromatography).

For the first time there will be Symposia on topics like Nanotechnology in Diagnostics; Metabolic Disorders; Renal Biochemistry; Bioethics in Laboratory Practice; "Lead, Health and Environment" and CNS diseases and Inborn errors of metabolism. In order to attract the young minds and encourage them, the organizing committee headed by Lt Col Parduman Singh, Prof and HOD, Dept of Biochemistry AFMC has come up with a novel proposal of providing free accommodation to Post Graduate students. To add to the list, more than 40 big corporate houses will be exhibiting their products in the scientific exhibition. A two-day capsule is also being organized on Recent Advances in Biochemistry along with a Post Graduate Quiz.

The conference will be inaugurated by the head of the Armed Forces Medical Services-Surg Vice Adm VK Singh PVSM, AVSM, VSM, PHS Director General Armed Forces Medical Services and Senior Colonel Commandant of Army Medical Corps.
