Mumbai-based Asian Heart Institute (AHI) is planning to link all the towns and cities of Maharashtra, having a reliable, and consistent ISDN facility, for telemedicine. AHI is one of the leading tertiary cardiac care hospitals in the country.

The ultra modern Asian Heart Institute recently set a benchmark for excellence in cardiac care for having completed over 500 surgeries in the last seven months. AHI also enjoys the distinction of having the lowest mortality rate (0.6 per cent) in bypass surgery, one of the best in the world.

Extending the celebrations further, Asian Heart Institute also announced a special discounted tariff for senior citizens and a special concession package to doctors across the country, should they avail of the treatment at AHI.

Commenting on the telemedicine initiative, Dr. Ramakanta Panda, Founder & CEO, Asian Heart Institute, said, "We are looking at harnessing the gains of technological advances in the telecommunications sector to ensure that the world's best medical care reaches out to the patients where they are, rather than expect them to travel to far off places for quality medical care. In the first phase, we plan to link various towns and moffusil centers in Maharashtra."

Designed as per the guidelines of Cleveland Heart Clinic, and managed by renowned doctors from India and abroad, the patient-centric design of the Asian Heart Institute, provides more space and more caregivers per patient - thereby maximizing safety and comfort of patients, and minimizing the risk of infection.

Equipped with world-class infrastructure and cutting-edge technology, Asian Heart Institute has 250 beds, 80 beds ICU and 8 state-of-the-art operation theatres. The hospital has 24 hours radiology, pathology, dialysis, blood bank and other emergency facilities.
