A two week long AICTE sponsored staff development Programme on "Total Quality Management of Herbal Medications with special reference to standardization, validation and regulatory Aspects" for pharmacy teachers was organised from 1st May to 13th May 2006 by pharmacy wing of Lachoo Memorial College of Science and Technology, (LMCST), Jodhpur. About 23 participants, with 22 from Rajasthan and one from M.P attended the course. Along with the lectures delivered by the experts, also there were eight practical sessions conducted during the course. Visits to industry and R&D centres were also made.
Prof. (Dr.) B. P. Nagori delivered a lecture on 'Total Quality Management of Herbal Medications with special reference to standardization, validation and regulatory aspects'. The other topics covered during the programme included, Identification and Authentication of Plants, Self- development, Orientation and Code of Conduct for pharmacy teachers, Importance of body language in communication, low viscosity poly and oligosaccharide dietary fibers in relation to human health and their structure, among others.
Dr. N.S. Shekhawat, associate professor, biotechnology unit, department of Botany, J.N.V. University, Jodhpur discussed "Plant Tissue Culture", Prof. (Dr.) B.P. Nagori, Director, LMCST, Jodhpur and coordinator, SDP gave a talk on "Patents"; Dr. M.K. Bhandari, associate professor, faculty of Law, J.N.C.U. Jodhpur, discussed, "Legal Dynamics of intellectual property Rights" and Dr. Ashvini Aggarwal, associate professor, J.N.V.U., Jodhpur, gave a talk on motivation leadership.
Dr.Ram Gopal, Ex. director, DRDO, Jodhpur, deliberated on 'Standardisation, validation and regulatory aspect of herbal medication. Also there was an inspiring talk on, "Reorganizing practice teaching: Let's come forward". Dr. A. Bohra, head, department of biotechnology, JNVU, Jodhpur, gave a talk on microbes and biotechnology. On the last day an evaluation test was conducted.
