AIDCOC concludes first batch of Innovative Training Initiative

The certificates of Innovative Training Initiative conducted by All India Drugs Control' Confederation on "Good Management Practices" for Good Governance has been distributed to the participants of first batch.

Fifteen drugs control officers received certificates at the hands of the Chief Guest, U.P.Khobragade, IAS, Commissioner, Food and Drug Administration Maharashtra on successful completion of one year training programme on "Good Management Practices". The certificates were presented to the officer at a grand function organized by the All India Drugs Control Officers Confederation and Interlink Marketing Consultancy Pvt. Ltd. on 27th July 2003 at FDA Auditorium.

"Good Management Practice" is an innovative training initiative taken by AIDCOC with a view to enhance managerial efficiency of Drugs Control Officers thereby enabling them to become more effective regulatory officers. The organizers took this initiative with the firm belief that personal effectiveness will lead to improved organizational effectiveness and will result in better governance. Voluntary participation of the officers in this training initiative is the unique feature of the program. The officers from different states, six from Maharashtra, five from Gujarat four from Karnataka, one from Jammu and Kashmir participated in the first batch.

While addressing the audience and participants from first batch, Khobrgade complimented AIDCOC for the initiative and for being "the organization with a difference. He said that it is the responsibility of the professional organization to regulate the conduct of their members and sensitize them on the concept of accountability and responsive governance. He expressed his expectations that the concept of Good Management Practices should be defined in the context of responsibility of the public servants in democratic set up with the prime objective - "Towards Good Governance". He said that the program can be said to be successful when the expertise gained is translated in to action and benefiting the real stake holder - "The Public".

Earlier, S.W.Deshpande, Secretary General, All India Drugs Control Officers' Confederation, in his welcome speech appraised the audience about the objective of taking such initiative. He also informed the audience that the training program for the second batch of 16 officers from Karnataka, Haryana, Assam and Maharashtra will commence from 28th July 2003. Dr. Smarta, Managing Director, Interlink Marketing Consultancy Pvt. Ltd. briefed the audience about the training module, mode of evaluation and the benefits accrued to the participants. Shri Dushyant Bhamre, active member of AIDCOC compared the function in a fluent style and Shri Pravin Mundada, Joint Secretary, AIDCOC proposed a vote of thanks.

FDA officers, office bearers and members of Indian Pharmaceutical Association, office bearers and members of North East Zone Chemist and Druggist Association, office bearers of All India Small Drugs Manufacturers Association and representatives from Pharmaceutical industry attended the function.

This initiative of imparting training to the officers on managerial aspects is in line with the AIDCOC's prime objective of achieving professional excellence through self initiative to enable the officers to become more effective and enable them to offer better services to the consumer. The "Good Management Practices" is a blend of knowledge updation and skills enhancement program. It primarily focuses on orienting participants towards enhancing managerial effectiveness. It is a first of its kind distance education program where each participant has to invest only eight days spread over a period of one year and continuous learning takes place via internet. The participants can learn at their own convenience and make the best use of time available to them without any compromise on the actual days spent by them on the field.
