The Academy of Intellectual Property Studies (AIPS) is organising a half day seminar on considerations for establishing freedom-to-operate and avoiding infringement in Europe on January 22, 2013 at Sci-Tech Centre, Mumbai.

The symposium is focussed on identifying and monitoring threats to freedom-to-operate and the options that could be available to deal with the issues arising and exemptions from patent infringement, obtaining of licence or assignment etc.

AIPS is an institute that has been set up in affiliation with the Indian Drug Manufacturers Association (IDMA). It has invited expert speakers, Dr Mike Snodin, UK & European Patent Attorney, Partner, Potter Clarkson LLP for further interaction in the seminar.

The issue regarding statistical process controls (SPCs) will be discussed including issues, whether there should be any additional non-infringement or invalidity arguments for SPCs.

Assessing and establishing freedom-to-operate is a critical function of the IP Team of any organisation with a strong R&D/ innovation focus, and proper care has to be taken to ensure that possible infringement with the related exposure to disputes and expensive litigation is avoided.

The event is designed for executives in the IP Team, IP Lawyers, patent attorneys, business development advisors etc.
