AIT Institute of Pharmacy principal M N Qureshi honoured with 'Ideal Teacher' award
The principal of government aided AIT Institute of Pharmacy at Malegaon in Nasik, Professor MN Qureshi has received the 'Ideal Teacher' award constituted by the Maharashtra state. The award was presented to Prof Qureshi by Ashok Chavan, chief minister of Maharashtra at a function recently.
Prof Qureshi was chosen for the award considering his contribution in the field of education. The award function was presided over by Rajesh Tope, Minister of Technical Education, which was also attended by Varsha Gaikwad, Minister of State for Technical and higher education Government of Maharashtra.
Prof Qureshi has over 25 years of service and experience catering to the pharmacy profession. Professor Qureshi had completed his diploma in pharmacy from Government Polytechnic, Amravati. Thereafter he did B Pharm from Mumbai University and M Pharm from Pune University. Recently he has submitted his Ph D thesis at Shivaji University, Kolhapur. He is an associate and fellow member of the Institution of Chemists India along with being a life member of various other pharmacy professional bodies like APTI, AICTE, IHPA, IPA, IPGA, IPS, ISTE, ISP and Bioinformatics Institute of India. He has several awards and honours to his credit.
Earlier, he was honoured with the Eminent Citizen of India award by the National and International Compendium, New Delhi in January 2007. His name has been referred for presentation of 'Jewel of India Award' of the Indian Solidarity Council in 2008. His name was selected for the 'International Gold Star Award' for 2009 by Economic Growth Society of India.
At present, he is the scientific advisor to Royal Medico technical Society and coordinator of scheme of community development through polytechnic, MHRD Government of India. In the past he has served as coordinator for various Government schemes like community polytechnic scheme of MHRD Government of India, National Environment Awareness Campaign, MoEF, Government of India, Computer teacher Training course, MSSI, Government of India. He has also actively worked for non formal skill training and placement of under privileged persons and for self employment of leprosy affected persons. He has published several national and international papers.
