Ajanta Pharma has posted a growth of 40 per cent in its sales at Rs 102 crore during the year ended March 2003 compared to Rs 73 crore in the last year. This was on the back of a robust growth in exports, which have contributed 63 per cent of the total turnover.

Ajanta Pharma's operating profit went up to Rs 22.09 crore (Rs 15.36 crore) and cash profit to Rs 10.58 crore (Rs 6.59 crore) for the financial year 2002-03. The net profit for the period was at Rs 2.27 crore against Rs 2.04 crore in the previous year due to higher deferred tax.

Ajanta Pharma has just launched India's first Gatifloxacin based eye drop "Gate", which is the only fourth generation fluro quinolone, the first choice in ocular surgeries. More product launches are in pipeline in cardiac and diabetic segments and these will drive growth in the financial year 2003-04.
