Ajanta Pharma's net grows by 10.4% in Q3

Ajanta Pharma's net profit for the third quarter ended December 2006 increased by 10.4 per cent to Rs 2.65 crore from Rs 2.40 crore in the similar period of last year. Its net sales increased by 11.3 per cent to Rs 57.27 crore from Rs 51.44 crore. The EPS worked out to Rs 2.20 as against Rs 2.05.

For the nine months it posted a healthy growth of 25 per cent in net profit and the profit for the period stood at Rs 6.09 crore against Rs 4.88 crore in the corresponding period of last year. Its sales moved up by 22 per cent to Rs 164 crore from Rs 134 crore.

The company continues to focus on the speciality segments of cardiology, ophthalmology and dermatology. Ajanta Pharma has launched five new products during the last quarter, all of them being among the first few to be launched in the country. This approach has enabled the company to take leadership position in many product categories n their segments.
