Akorn, Inc., a leading specialty pharmaceutical company, announced that it has launched the prescription version of Ibuprofen 100mg/5ml oral suspension in 118ml and 473ml bottles as well as 5ml unit dose cups.

Ibuprofen oral suspension, USP is a sucrose-sweetened, orange-colored, berry-flavored suspension containing 100 mg of ibuprofen in 5 ml (20 mg/ml).

In pediatric patients, ibuprofen oral suspension is indicated for reduction of fever in patients aged 6 months up to 2 years of age, relief of mild to moderate pain in patients aged 6 months up to 2 years of age, relief of signs and symptoms of juvenile arthritis.

In adults, ibuprofen oral suspension is indicated for treatment of primary dysmenorrhea and for relief of the signs and symptoms of rheumatoid arthritis and osteoarthritis.

According to IMS Health, sales of Ibuprofen 100mg/5ml oral suspension were approximately $18.6 million for the twelve months ended September 30, 2016.
