Alan Medical to receive WHO GMP approval for its Chennai facility soon
Alan Medical and Laboratory Products, Chennai is expecting to receive WHO GMP approval for its world-class processing facility located at Chennai, soon. The company produces a comprehensive range of absorbable and non-absorbable sutures. It is also planning to increase its current range of medical disposable products in the coming years.
The company aims to export its products to Asian and African countries as these countries mostly depend on developed countries for these products. At the same time the cost of these products are quite high when imported from developed countries, K Senthil Kumar, founder of the company told Pharmabiz.
The company, which was established about two years ago has emerged as one of the leading producers of sutures in the country, meeting USP standards. Alan Medical deals with sutures produced both indigenously and sutures manufactured by using the imported raw materials from Germany, Korea and UK. The company aims to establish a wider network all over India in the near future.
Kumar said that suture manufacturing began in India about 30 years ago and the market is worth Rs.2000 crore today. Worldwide, UK and Germany are the major players in this segment and there is good scope for India to grow in this industry.
He said that so far, the company has achieved revenues up to Rs.1 crore and is aiming to take this figure to about Rs.5 crore in the next two years. It is producing catgut chromic sutures and monofilament polyamide sutures besides producing sutures made of imported raw materials such as polyglycolic acid sutures, black braided silk sutures and monofilament polypropylene sutures.
