Allergan India director receives 'Silver CIO Award' for efforts in business- tech integration

Allergan India, director, Operations, IS & Projects K T Rajan bagged the 'Silver CIO Award' in the less than Rs 1,000 crore company category. He was the only representative from the pharmaceutical industry to win the award and received a statuette on August 25, 2006 at a ceremony in Mumbai. Other winners were from ONGC, Tata Motors Limited, Reliance Industries to name a few.

The Enterprise Connect Awards was instituted by the CIOL and Dataquest to recognize excellence among CIOs who are the key drivers to enable and increase the innovative ability of companies in integrating business and technology.

The parameters for selection included leadership, vision, mission (includes risk taking ability) and strategic deployment of Information Technology in terms of innovative use, process improvements and customer orientation.

Rajan earlier won the British Council Scholarship to represent India at the Global conference on Lifelong Learning at Liverpool, UK held in June 2005. He was also the recipient of the British Chevening Award in Leadership & excellence and is an alumnus of the London School of Economics.

Allergan is a technology driven healthcare company developing eye care pharmaceuticals, surgical devices and contact lens, apart from a specialty health product Botox used to treat cerebral palsy, adult spasticity, cervical dystonia, blepharospasm, hemifacial spasm and dermatology (treating facial lines wrinkles).
