Alpha & Omega Diagnostics Ltd has launched a single point of care test kit called the Spectral Cardiac Status Rapid Test Kit, which determines within 3-5 minutes whether a patient has suffered a heart attack or not. This test is as simple to perform as sugar testing and as simple to read as a thermometer. The company claims the test will avoid a battery of expensive investigations being conducted on admission.

This test kit has been developed after years of extensive results by Spectral Inc, Canada, and has ISO-9001 certification along with FDA, USA, approval, which ensures its reliability and eliminates any false reporting. Being a Point of Care Test Kit, the test can be conducted at the bedside of the patient even by paramedical staff.

According to a press release of the company, the test kit provides conclusive proof of heart attack within three minutes, which is approved by the US FDA and European Society & American Society of Cardiology. The sample material to be used in the test include whole blood, plasma or serum. The test requires no instrumentation and is stable at room temperature. A positive result is given out as early as 3-5 minutes and a negative result in 15 minutes.

According to Arun Parasrampuria, Managing Director of Alpha & Omega "It will revolutionise the concept of heart care by almost instant diagnosis of heart attack and will save precious human lives by administering timely therapy instead of waiting for the results of laboratory tests".

Alpha & Omega is also embarking on an ambitious Physician Education Programme and common man education programme for wide dissemination of the benefits of this revolutionary product to make it a boon for the medical fraternity and also the heart patients.
