Analytica-Anacon to be held once in every two years

Analytica-Anacon, the first international trade fair and conference for analysis, biotechnology and laboratory technology and services took off with a blazing start at the Nehru Centre in Mumbai from January 28-31, 2003. The conference is being organized by the Munich International Trade Fairs {MITF} in association with the Indian Analytical Instruments Association.

The Indian Analytical Instruments Association, whose members include Indian manufacturers and importers of analysis equipment, has been organizing Anacon - a series of three conferences of the Indian analysis sector accompanied by a single exhibition for Indian manufacturers and distributors of analysis and laboratory technology equipment - since 1997.

With MITF as its trade fair partner, the IAIA hopes to attract more international exhibitors to India. MITF is considered one of the world's leading organizers of trade shows and exhibitions and has acquired years of expertise holding high tech trade fairs at its trade fair centre in Munich and in world markets of international significance.

By holding Analytica-Anacon, MITF is extending its commitment in Asia. "The Indian market for analysis, laboratory technology and biotechnology is one of the most important international growth markets in the world. Together with our partner IAIA, we have created Analytica-Anacon, an exhibition platform that take the importance of this market into account," said Dr. Joachim Ensslin, managing director, MITF.

Eleven out of approximately 50 exhibitors are from abroad. They include companies from the US, Germany, Italy and Japan. Other international key players such as Agilent Technologies, Genetix Biotech, Micro Devices Metrohm, Netzsch and Merck will be represented by their Indian subsidiaries. In addition, prime international analysis and laboratory technology companies from Australia, China, Germany, France, Great Britain, Italy, Japan, Netherlands, Switzerland and the US will be represented at Analytica-Anacon by Indian distributors such as Anatek Services Pvt. Ltd, Indtech Analytical, Cryogen Instruments International, Spinco Biotech Pvt. Ltd. and Niulab Equipment Co. Pvt. Ltd.

Nitin Kabbin, Director of IAIA, said "MITF is an experienced and competent trade fair partner that will help us to attract key international accounts from global analysis industry to our Indian market. The co-operation takes us to new horizons of international participation." The three-day conference from January 29-31 at the fair venue will highlight process-oriented approach of the latest developments in the analytical instrumentation arena. About 20 eminent experts from leading companies and research institutes from India, Germany, Netherlands, Switzerland, UK and US will present their papers during the conference on pharmaceuticals, biotechnology and environment.

The products that would be exhibited at the exhibition include that on analysis like chromatography, microscopes and optical image processing, lab automation and robotics, and quality control. Laboratory technology devices and biotechnology instruments like DNA sequences and synthesizers, bioinformatics and biochemicals, also will be exhibited.
