Andhra Pradesh DCA set to launch its website, plan computerization

The Drugs Control Administration of Andhra Pradesh (APDCA) is all set to launch its official website and computerize its offices in two months with a view to speed up the day-today activities, it is learnt.

According to the department, it has received around Rs 1.50 crore from the government under the DFID scheme for creation of website, computerization and networking. It will provide the drug inspectors connectivity with the AP Drugs Control Administration, the Drugs Controller General of India (DCGI) and other state drugs controllers. It is also expected to facilitate co-ordination between officials at various levels in their efforts to restrain the menace of spurious drugs.

Speaking to Pharmabiz, R P Meena, director general, Drugs Control Administration of Andhra Pradesh, said, "Creation of the official website of Andhra Pradesh Drugs Control Administration is in progress. We are planning to launch the website in two months. The creation of the website and computerization and networking of the offices will facilitate efforts against spurious drugs".

The website will also provide details on the raids conducted by the state drugs control officials and alert letters on the movements of spurious drugs and sub-standard quality drugs. The computerization of the department is expected to speed up its day-today activities. As per the department, it will take necessary steps to reduce the time gap after applying for renewal and granting of new licences and certification.

The Drugs Control Administration of AP will organize refresher courses for its officers ranging from drug inspectors to assistant directors and also to technical staff. It will equip the officials with latest information on spurious drugs, court procedures and also provide training on handling of machines and latest technology. The department will also conduct classes for administration staff on RTI Act, proceedings and procedures from time to time. It will set up two training institutes with an investment of Rs 25 lakh, one in Hyderabad and other in Vijayawada.
