Marking the 17th annual conference of Cardiology Society of India, E S L Narasimhan, Governor of Andhra Pradesh, inaugurated the Andhra Pradesh chapter of cardiology society in Hyderabad.

The event was held for two days from 9-10 June 2012. About 300 cardiologists from all over the state participated in the event. The main theme of the conference was “Update” which was aimed with an important objective to update and enhance knowledge about cardiology among the doctors.

The governor advocated that the doctors’ community should carry forward more research in the field of advanced medicine technology and chalk out ways and means to enable modern treatment is affordable for the common man.

As there have been lot of new techniques and innovative methodologies evolving in treating patients suffering from various heart ailments, the event gave doctors an apt platform to have a brief know how of various aspects of cardiology treatment procedures.   The focus was on all fields of cardiology like clinical, interventional, peripheral, electrophysiology, imaging and therapeutics.

Dr Sunil Kumar, president, Cardiological Society of India said, “This type of conferences will strive to update the knowledge of the delegates in all aspects of cardiology. Doctors should always update their knowledge continuously and learn new treatment techniques that are emerging. This would enable quality in treatment and help speedy recovery of patients.”

The highlights of the event was live telecast of complex coronary and non coronary interventions from different Hospitals in the twin cities to the conference venue with live interaction between the operators and delegates.

Reputed speakers, Dr A Sampath Kumar, Retired Professor, AIIMS New Delhi; Dr George Cherian, Retired Professor of Cardiology, CMC, Vellore and Dr Sesikeran, Director, NIN gave lectures on various fields of cardiology at the event.
