In his endeavour to promote the proposed Pharma City at Visakhapatnam, the Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh, Chandrababu Naidu led a high level delegation to Singapore recently. The objective of the delegation was to market the concept and to find a developer for the Pharma City. The Pharma City is planned to be developed as a public-private partnership with world class infrastructure. The private developer would be responsible to build, operate and maintain the pharma city infrastructure and amenities.

The delegation comprised of Minster of Major Industries, K.Vidyadher Rao, APIIC - the nodal agency, IL & FS, L&T Ramboll, Insignia Brooke - the advisors and Venkat Jasti, President of BDMA went to Singapore.

During his meeting with the Prime Minister of Singapore and other ministers, Naidu requested the Minister for Industries of Singapore to lead a delegation along with the interested developers and prospective pharma companies to visit Hyderabad for meetings and for site visit to understand the total concept, a BDMA press release said.

The meeting was attended by more than 25 senior executives representing 10 different companies, mainly infrastructure developers and utility operators. Many of the developers have shown interest on specific components but three firms have shown keen interest in proposing total infrastructure based proposal for which a dialogue will be continued with them in future.

During the interaction with the Chief Minister and after his presentation, participants expressed apprehension about the environment law, labour law, fiscal incentives and about the licensing rules. The Chief Minister assured them that all precautions will be taken in formulating the policies and he requested their inputs in this regard.
