AP Govt plans massive recruitment drive to strengthen health system
The Andhra Pradesh Government has announced a massive recruitment drive and funds infusion to improve the public health system in the state. As a part of this, government has decided to recruit about 1000 doctors, 400 assistant professors in medical colleges, 58 doctors in Indian medical systems and 1,200 nurses.
These recruitments would be made under the guidelines of Medical Council of India and the government has also proposed a separate teaching cadre for faculty of medical colleges in the state to be formed before the next academic year.
The government has given due attention to the appointment of doctors dealing with obstetrics, paediatrics to control child and maternal mortality rates. Recruitment of nurses would be made in backward areas.
The state is also planning to take a Rs 165-crore loan from HUDCO for upgrading the equipment and infrastructure in teaching hospitals. An amount of Rs 110 crore is to be borrowed from NABARD to build and repair primary health centres in rural areas.
