AP Medicinal and Aromatic Plants Board and Pharmexcil are organizing a three-day seminar and exhibition, Oshadhi 2006, on January 26-28, 2006 at Hyderabad.

The seminar at Oshadhi 2006 will focus on current trends in cultivation, processing value addition and marketing of medicinal and aromatic plants and the exhibition on developments in the sector.

Those engaged in the trading of medicinal plants and manufacture / export of Herbal / Ayurvedic / Siddha / Unani extracts and formulations can find it beneficial.

India recognizes more than 8000 plant species having medicinal value. Constant increase in exports of medicinal plants during the past decade, attests to worldwide interest in these products as well as traditional healthcare systems. Out of the estimated world trade of US $ 60 billion, India's share is nearly US $ 1 billion which amounts to only 1/6th of that of China.

It may be noted that Pharmexcil has set up a separate committee to boost the export potential of medicinal plants and herbal sector.
