Apollo Health Street bags Rs.30 cr BPO contract from New York Hospital
Apollo Health Street Ltd. (AHSL), a subsidiary of the Rs 550 crore Apollo Hospitals Group, has bagged the single largest medical business process outsourcing (Revenue Cycle Management) contract in India.
The contract, valued at Rs 30 crore will be a multi-year contract for a large New-York based teaching hospital and would require Apollo to bill for charges over $ 10 million annually.
Addressing newsmen, Dr Vikram Chhatwal, CEO of Apollo Health Street Limited said that with this contract the group would increase its back office capacity to over 1500 seats and would establish another facility at Chennai in the next two years. The group has already incorporated a subsidiary in the US, Apollo Health Street Inc. that would help in supporting its business venture, he said.
"The group is looking at a substantial capital infusion in the division by providing value-added services to its client. We have already invested $ 3.5 million and would be investing a total of $ 10 million in the years to come," noted Dr. Chhatwal.
The foray of Apollo into the medical BPO sector would enable it to offer call centre operations and provide a comprehensive range of services including billing, coding services and claims processing. The billing services would cover all patient and payer types and would be capable to code across various specialties as per the specified US HIPAA (Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act) standards.
In addition, the group would also offer value-added services to its clients like trained manpower and training facilities for nurses, other paramedical staff and hospital administrators.
AHSL has ventured into IT enabled services and has expertise in the in high-end and high-value business processes in medical billing (Revenue Cycle Management), medical coding and claims processing space for over a year now. Their venture is well supported by a team of over 450 professionals including doctors, medical professionals and coders certified by the AAPC (American Academy of Professional Coders).
