Apollo Hospitals to open clinic for cardiac arrhythmia in Hyderabad

Hyderabad-based Apollo Hospitals will be opening a cardiac arrhythmia clinic in the city soon. The decision has come after a four-day camp on pacemaker, electro physiology study and radio frequency ablation procedures for complex cardiac-arrthymia conducted at the hospital proved its necessity, says Dr Rabin Chakraborthy, senior consultant cardiologist and director, cardiac arrhythmia services of Apollo Hospitals.

Addressing a press conference on Wednesday, Chakraborthy explained that cardiac arrhythmia is a rhythm disturbance of the heartbeat which is life threatening. Patients suffering from these disorders complain of typical symptoms like palpitations, giddiness, light heartedness or dizziness, breathing difficulty, chest discomfort or loss of consciousness. In his opinion about five crore people in India are suffering from cardiac arrhythmia.

The four-day camp was attended by patients from the all parts of the state and places like Nagpur, jabalpur and Kolkotta. Dr Ranjit Suri, consultant cardiologist and cardiac arrhythmiologist from Massachusetts GeneralHospital and Harward Medical School, Boston was among the experts who attended the camp.
