Apollo Group of Hospitals announced the launch of Apollo Telemedicine Services at the Apollo Medical Centre at Muscat in Sultanate of Oman. The service centre in Muscat has been linked with Apollo Group of Hospitals in Hyderabad, Chennai and New Delhi in India. The centre through the Apollo Telemedicine Network would cater to the medical needs of the people of Oman with the help of healthcare professional across the Apollo Group of Hospitals.

Commenting on the development, His Excellency Dr Ahmed Bin Abdul Quadir Ghassani, under secretary, Health Affairs, Ministry of Health, Sultanate of Oman, on Monday said "The telemedicine services at the Apollo Medical Centre in Oman will help the people".

The telemedicine network provides ready access to specialists and super-specialists in India for consultation and for second opinion services. Apart from video consultation, specialists in India can review the investigations of patients in Oman (including laboratory tests, X-Ray, Sonogram, CT Scan, MRI etc) and give a comprehensive opinion to the patients.

This modality can also be used for taking second opinion from experienced Apollo doctors in complex clinical situations. It provides instant access to patients to consult their respective doctors from Muscat and thus avoiding journey all the way from their country to India.

The service also offers quality reporting of diagnostic tests and treatment of complex clinical situations. It facilitates the convenience of seeking the opinion of expert radiologists and pathologists with Apollo. The link also facilitates TELE - CME (Continuing Medical Education) programme for the medical fraternity in Oman and exchange of views and experiences. In addition live procedures will also be telecast at regular intervals for the benefit of the doctors and medical personnel in Oman.

"Apollo Group of Hospitals always had a special relationship with the people of Oman. They have been utilising the services of our hospitals in India for the last 25 years and have shown tremendous faith in Apollo Hospitals. Launch of Apollo Telemedicine Centre in Muscat is a step in bridging the geographical divide between Oman and Apollo Hospitals in India. We remain committed to complement the healthcare system in Oman," said Dr K. Hari Prasad, at the inaugural function.
