Ashian Herbex launches herbal extracts

Ashian Herbex has recently launched natural extracts of Curcumin and Capsaicin under the brand name Vemus.

Curcumin is a naturally occurring yellow pigment found in the spice turmeric. It is an accepted hypocholestremic and is used as anti-bacterial agent in the treatment of diarrhoea, H. Pylori infection etc., the company sources said.

Ashian Herbex has also developed colourless Curcumin for cosmetic application. According to company sources, animal and human studies conducted by researchers at Columbia University, New York have found that Curcumin extract slows the proliferation of cancer cells by inducing apoptosis. The National Cancer Institute, USA has also worked on it for the treatment of cancer.

Capsaicin is the active component of chilli. The key use of this ingredient is pain relief associated with cluster headache and arthristis. Research also shows that it increases the collagenase and certain prostaglandins that reduce both pain and inflammation.

The company is launching capsules / tablets by name Cankure (functional food supplement during cancer therapy), Glutes (anti-arthritis / spondilitis), Kurcuma (anti-oxidant), Smokare (tobacco chewing / smoking) and creams / ointments by name Aseptik (anti-septic) and Capccin (pain reliever).

Y. S. S. Murthy, Vice-Chairman informed Pharmabiz.com that the company has invested around Rs. 4.5 crore to set up the facility to produce natural products. The parent company Alkali Metals has taken care of the technology part.
