The Asmita Group is all set to launch its first 330 bedded, multi-specialty, tertiary care Umrao Hospital in Mira-Bhayander area near Mumbai.  The 200-crore hospital is the first tertiary care hospital set up in the this area with an objective to serve the residents of far off western suburbs and nearby towns stretching from Borivali to Vapi.  This hospital is the first in the chain of tertiary care hospitals that the group is planning to set up between Mumbai and Delhi covering the entire stretch of  proposed industrial corridor which would in turn be supplemented by two to three secondary care hospitals.

The hospital will be inaugurated on November 1 and  specialises in trauma care and emergency services, interventional cardiology and cardiac surgery, bone and joint care, brain and spine, kidney diseases and endourology, nephrology and urology and neurocentre.  Leading consultants from across the country, who bring to the table the experience of working with reputed health-care organisations, are joining the hospital. As of now the hospital has appointed 25 doctors specialised in their specific area.

Dr Rajendra Sharma, CEO, Umrao Hospitals informed that a total investment of 200 crore has been made in the hospital by the margin provided by The Umrao Institute of Medical Science & Research Trust (TUIMSAR) and a consortium of banks. Umrao Hospital is a part of TUIMSAR that was established in 1990.

Commenting on the occasion, Muzaffar Hussain, chairman, Umrao Hospitals said, “There is a huge need for a hospital of this scale in Mira-Bhayander area. Over the years the population of the area has been increasing manifolds but still there is a shortage of good tertiary care, multi-specialty hospitals. For generation people have been traveling to hospitals in greater Mumbai for all their health care needs.”

“At Umrao Hospitals the primary focus would be to provide critical care across multiple specialties during the golden hour.  Another area of focus would be neonatology to improve the overall health of mother and child. Patient-centric care supported with state-of-the-art infrastructure will drive the spectrum of services at the hospital. We will be introducing innovative services like ‘patient-record digitalisation’, real-time wave monitoring of treatment and ICU on wheels for the first time in Mira-Bhayander area,” Dr Sharma said.
