Aster DM Healthcare inks 7-year pact with BIAL as new healthcare partner

Aster DM Healthcare signed a 7-year agreement with Bangalore International Airport Limited (BIAL) as their healthcare partners to manage around 10,000 sq. ft medical services facility at Kempegowda International Airport, Bangalore which is the third busiest airport by passenger traffic in the country, after Delhi and Mumbai.
 
As part of the agreement, Aster DM Healthcare will aid BIAL in manning the airport clinic 24/7, extend emergency medical technicians to both employees and passengers of Kempegowda International Airport besides disaster management services. The healthcare group will also be responsible for the stand alone airport medical care facility expected to be commissioned before March 2017, the services of which can be availed by the general public also.
 
The agreement was signed in the presence of Bhaskar Bodapati, senior director of finance and support services, Bangalore International Airport Limited, Dr. Nitish Shetty, CEO, Aster CMI Hospital and Sreenath Reddy, Group CFO, Aster DM Healthcare.
 
“We are glad that we have been given the privilege of serving at the Bangalore International Airport. This is a moment of pride and honour for us,” said Reddy.
 
Speaking about the agreement, Dr. Shetty, said that it was an opportunity for both Bengaluru and international travellers.
 
“BIAL has always shown a strong commitment towards ensuring safety and security of all its stakeholders, especially passengers using Kempegowda International Airport, Bengaluru. This strategic alliance with the Aster Group is a significant step towards strengthening our commitment. We are extremely pleased that our customers travelling to and from the airport would receive best-in-class 24/7 medical services and care, said Bodapati.
 
With a well-defined route development strategy Kempegowda International Airport, Bengaluru (KIAB) has established itself as South India’s busiest airport and India’s third largest airport. It recorded 25.2% increase in traffic and 12.7% increase in air traffic movement in 2015. Recently the airport also clocked 100 million passenger mark within 8 years of operation. “These significant numbers indicate the importance of having a well-equipped medical facility at the airport,” he added.
 
Aster CMI, Bangalore, a multi-specialty facility in north Bangalore, is managed & operated by Aster DM Healthcare. Aster DM Health Care has a healthcare network with over 280 operating facilities across 9 countries, including 13 hospitals, 87 clinics and 180 retail pharmacies. It has 12,774 employees as of March 31, 2016 including, 1,003 full time doctors.
