AstraZeneca Pharma net surges by 26% in 2007, dividend at 750%

AstraZeneca Pharma India has achieved better performance during the year ended December 2007. The company's net profit increased by 26.1 per cent to Rs 61.46 crore from Rs 48.74 crore in the previous year. Its net sales went up by 12.4 per cent to Rs 297.31 crore from Rs 264.41 crore and its other income moved up by 25.5 per cent to Rs 16.25 crore from Rs 12.95 crore.

The board of directors has recommended higher dividend of Rs 15 (750 per cent) per equity share of face value of Rs 2 for the year 2007 as against Rs 12 (600 per cent) per share in the previous year.

The company's equity capital as at the end of December 2007 stood at Rs 5 crore and its reserves amounted to Rs 154.31 crore as compared to Rs 136.72 crore in the previous year, a growth of 12.9 per cent. The company issued bonus debentures in the ratio of one debenture of the face value of Rs 25 each for every equity share held during January 2008. The bonus debentures will be redeemed on January 11, 2009.
