Aurobindo Pharma's net surges by 62% in Q1

Aurobindo Pharma, the fourth largest Hyderabad based pharmaceutical company with standalone net sales of Rs 1980 crore, has achieved better performance during the first quarter ended June 2007 on account of lower interest burden. The company's standalone net profit has taken a quantum jump of 61.7 per cent to Rs 58.54 crore from Rs 36.21 crore in the similar period of last year. The company's net sales went up by 9.4 per cent to Rs 479.95 crore from Rs 438.56 crore. The earning per share worked out to Rs 10.97 as against Rs 6.8 in the first quarter of 2006-07.

The company's exports increased to Rs 277.72 crore from Rs 251.59 crore in the last period.

During the quarter, Aurobindo has added new subsidiaries viz., Aurobindo Pharma Japan KK, Aurobindo Pharma Products Farmaceuticos Ltda. Brazil and Aurobindo Shanghai Trading Co Ltd. The company's consolidated net sales increased to Rs 565.87 crore and it earned a net profit of Rs 61.73 crore.

The company allotted 3.74 lakh equity shares o Rs 5 each on conversion of FCCBs worth US$ 4.5 million in terms of the offer document to the FCCB holders.
