As an effort towards building awareness for the zinc therapy in diarrhoea, along with ORS, DRL is organising an awareness program at Hyderabad on April 1, 2006. The theme of the program is 'Zinc Therapy In Diarrhoea: The Path Ahead'.

Eminent paediatricians from across the country will share their experiences in a roundtable discussion and give a collective message to all stakeholders towards promoting Zinc therapy across the country. This program is being organized in collaboration with Indian Academy of Paediatrics (IAP), Hyderabad Branch.

Representatives from WHO and senior paediatricians from across the country are expected to attend the event along with senior management from Dr Reddy's.

WHO / UNICEF recently stressed the need for creating awareness among clinicians, other health care providers and general public about the use of Zinc along with ORS. It has been proved that Zinc therapy along with ORS is an effective management tool for diarrhoea, sources said.

Dr Reddy's had taken 'Drive against Diarrhoea' initiative in the year 2003-'04 with specific focus on children. DRL has been a pioneer of Low Osmolarity ORS (Oral Rehydration Salt) in India.
