B Braun Medical India, the Indian arm of the German Multinational Healthcare company specializing in medical disposables, critical care equipment and surgical instruments, has launched its OEM Industrial Division in India.

This division of B Braun would focus on providing local Indian companies with medical components for development of customized kits and novel drug delivery systems for formulations manufactured by pharmaceutical companies.

Globally, the OEM Industrial Division has been supplying various customized products to major pharmaceutical giants like Novartis, Abbott, Astra Zeneca, Aventis Pharma, Bracco, Glaxo R&D, Pfizer etc.

In India, the OEM Industrial Division of B. Braun is focusing on three main areas namely the Chemotherapy Drug Delivery Systems, Medical Disposable Components for Cardiology & Critical Care and Pharmacy Admixture Products mainly required for R&D labs & biotechnology.

The division is working with reputed pharmaceutical companies in India manufacturing chemotherapeutic drugs to 'bundle' specialized medical disposables along with the formulations to ensure safety for both the patients as well as the medical practitioners while drug delivery & admixture. Various products from this division form the standard protocol while delivering hazardous cytotoxic and genotoxic drugs in developed markets of Europe & the US.

The OEM Industrial Division also plans to closely work with local Indian Medical Disposable Manufacturers to develop customized kits with a combination of components manufactured locally and ones, which are imported from different manufacturing sites of B. Braun. This would be instrumental in reducing the cost of various therapeutic procedures since the entire kits would not have to be imported. Another area, which would cut costs for specific medical disposable kits, is the reduction of overhead expenses and investment costs by the local manufacturers. Most of the customized specialty kits have a very low consumption in India, making investments in manufacturing such kits unviable. However through the successful operations of this division, local manufacturers can overcome such difficulties without compromising on the quality of the kits.
