Back Rx Spine Care, a US-based company and the healthcare arm of Indiamco, will set up six more spine care solution centre across the country, with the initial investment of Rs 3 crore. All the new centres will become operational by the end of March 2008.
Few months back the company had opened its first spine care solution centre in Worli, Mumbai. The centre was set up with a progressive and innovative approach to spine care and its modern designs based on global practices focused on ergonomics. Speaking to Pharmabiz, Sabin Choksi, CEO, said, "We are setting up six new centres in Pune, Hyderabad, Bangalore, Malad (Mumbai) and two at Andheri (Mumbai). Our two centres of Pune and Andheri (East) is expected to be commissioned by March 2008, while the remaining four centres will start functioning from November 2007. We are also considering other cities, namely, Delhi, Calcutta, Madras, Chennai and Ahmedabad with multiple units in each major city to cater to the needs of the masses in India and by the end of 2009 we will be having our centres in these locations. Currently, the strength of the manpower is 35 and by the end of 2007 it will go up to 90".
The Back RX centres will be a mix of satellite units that focuses on services and larger units focusing on products and services. Back Rx offers the expertise of professional and reputed doctors, and hospitals, affiliated to the company to provide high quality physical therapy. Almost 70 per cent of the population suffers from some kind of back injuries at least once in their lives. The middle class in the country, estimated to be about 300 million, can afford a reasonably comfortable lifestyle with expendable income. Of these nearly 210 mn individuals could face back problems at some point in their lives. The company has estimated an individual spending of Rs 10,000 on orthopaedic products and services in their lives. By this conservative figure, the market size is worked out to Rs 4,200 crore.
