Bangalore Baptist Hospital wins QCI DL Shah Quality award

Bangalore Baptist Hospital has won the QCI DL Shah Quality award for 2nd consecutive year.

The six quality initiatives of the Hospital which allowed it to bag the honours were mentoring hospitals , promoting Healthcare Communication, Propagating quality through networking, Initiating quality standards for empanelment, Fellowship in Healthcare Quality Management and creating a Handbook on healthcare quality and patient care.

Additionally, as part of the India Backbone Implementation Network (IbIn) Bangalore Team, Bangalore Baptist Hospital has taken a lead role in publishing the National Consultative Report, `Aspirations for the Elderly in India' which was released by the Planning Commission of India in New Delhi early this week.

This project comes close on the heels of the `Quality Initiatives for the Nation’, which won the prestigious Quality Council of India (QCI) DL Shah Quality Award 2014 under the Big Hospitals category.

“We have  been serving the poor and needy for over 40 years, providing quality ethical medical care to all patients irrespective of social status. The hospital excels in delivering high-quality patient care which has brought home many awards,'' said Dr Alex Thomas, chief executive officer, Bangalore Baptist Hospital .

The Hospital has spearheaded innovations and was awarded the FICCI Healthcare Operational Excellence Award in 2012 and also received the National Award for Excellence in Teaching (2012) from the National Board of Examinations for accredited programmes, making BBH the best teaching hospital in the country.

BBH was started as an outpatient clinic in a makeshift building, for rural Bengaluru, in 1973. Over the four decades, it is recognised as a 300 bed multispecialty mission hospital serving all socio-economic strata of the society and leading the way in healthcare quality in the country. It is the first mission hospital in India to be accredited with NABH and NABL.  To enable quality healthcare, the hospital runs many medical, nursing and allied health services educational programmes at undergraduate and post-graduate levels. The recently launched BBH Devanahalli, a satellite hospital, serves Rural North Bengaluru and adjoining townships.With these and other initiatives and its quality drive, BBH has impacted lakhs of patients in India and Malaysia. The hospital is governed by Christian Medical College, Vellore, since 1989.
