Baxter India Private Limited has received the Indo-American Chamber of Commerce (IACC) ‘The Best US Company Operating in India’ award under the ‘Other Services’ category.
The award was given to the organization based on human capital management, corporate social responsibility and overall contribution to Indo-US business. An independent jury comprising of business leaders from Indian and US based companies and the consular corps from the US Consulate evaluated the various participating companies.
Accepting the award, Anish Bafna, managing director, Baxter India Pvt Ltd said, that this was a recognition of the company’s commitment in India’s healthcare for the past 15 years.
Baxter employs over 1,100 people in India which include its three manufacturing plants in Alathur, Manesar and Waluj. These plants adopt greenhouse gas emissions using coconut and rice husks and sugar cane remnants as energy sources in boilers to decrease fossil-fuel related reduce energy costs. The company piloted the ‘Open Mentoring Program’ to connect and reinforce leadership expectations for its managers and top talent. Annually in October, its employees across the country volunteer time and contribute funds to ‘Making a Meaningful Difference’ month activities that improve the lives of people in local communities and care for the environment. In 2011, more than 700 employees and their families across 17 locations contributed 2500 volunteer hours in their communities.
Baxter International Foundation, with Plan International India in New Delhi worked to enhance the capability of more than 1,500 mothers to effectively manage children's health needs through home-based care and also to address the primary healthcare needs of approximately 5,000 children through the establishment of a primary health centre and outreach health services.
