Bestnet Europe Ltd. has announced the introduction of a new 290 mesh size for Netprotect LLINs. The new mesh size is being introduced to help fight the battle against smaller vectors such as the vectors of Dengue and Leishmaniasis. “The new mesh size is Bestnet's response to requests for Netprotect products with mesh sizes that are effective against vectors that are smaller than the typical mosquitoes involved in malaria transmission in sub-Saharan Africa,” said Trine Angeline Sig, Bestnet director of sales & marketing.
Since the signing of the Abuja Declaration in 2000, worldwide financial contributions and vector control efforts have been focused primarily on malaria. However, malaria is not the only insect-borne disease of public health importance. While the development, production and sales of effective new malaria control products was the basic business principle upon which Bestnet was founded, lately the company has also been focusing on several other vector-borne diseases. Sig continued, “Bestnet has several new products in our development pipeline that will expand Bestnet's portfolio of vector control products to include better tools to control diseases such as Dengue, Leishmaniasis and Sleeping Sickness. The new 290 mesh Netprotect LLINs are just the first in a series of new product innovations that Bestnet will be launching in 2011.”
Bestnet Europe Ltd., manufacturers of the long-lasting mosquito net Netprotect, supports the many ministries of health and relief organizations worldwide working for a life without malaria. Bestnet now produces more than 2 million Netprotect mosquito nets per month.
