Bigtec Lifesciences Solutions, a division of Bigtec Private Limited, a research informatics products and services provider is now gearing up to ramp up its employee strength significantly. Bigtec currently plans to increase its strength to 160 from the current 80 people. The additions are expected before March-end 2006. The expansion in head count comes in the wake of its new products and services for the pharma and biotechnology space.
Its current team is a combination of pharma scientists and software specialists. The company is now on the look out for similar expertise and technical support. "So long Bigtec was engaged in product development and is now gearing up for the deployment of its products for which it needs to increase its human resources strength," Sandeep R Kamath, president, Bigtec Lifesciences Solutions told Pharmabiz.
The company has introduced its versatile range of products in the multiple areas of research, which includes medicinal chemistry, clinical research, bio equivalence and bioavailability studies, drug discovery, and drug synthesis and research management including submission frameworks for abbreviated new drug application (ANDA) or new drug application (NDA).
Currently, the company has four products, out of which three have been installed at leading pharma companies and research labs in the country. These include 'ClinOne' for bio equivalence in clinical research, 'Ark' for the analytical in clinical trials, 'Synthesys' for pharmaceutical chemistry research, which is an end-to-end solution in research management, and 'Quark' a quality assurance tool. For the fifth product, which is for the pharmaceutical formulation sector, Bigtec has the mathematical model ready and the prototype is under development. The company has also ensured that all its products are 21 CFR Part 11 compliant and a team of experts regularly study the US FDA/GCP/GLP requirements to make the products regulatory compliant, stated Kamath.
The other area of focus for the company is services where Bigtec offers instrument integration, audits, validations and consulting. It has tied-up with Labtronics Inc. to enable connectivity with the HPLC, LCMS, GS, balances and most other lab instruments, to provide total solutions for the lab under its instrument integration services programme and is also in a dialogue with three more companies for the same.
Another development at the company is that it has assigned Ascendum as channel partners for distribution of its range of products to enter the US market for the first time. "The partnership will help both Ascendum and Bigtec leverage each other's strengths," said Kamath.
