Bilcare's net surges to Rs 11.82 cr in Q2

Bilcare Ltd, a leader in the segment of advanced pharma packaging solutions, achieved strong performance during the quarter ended September 2006 and its net profit surged by 34.2 per cent to Rs 11.82 crore from Rs 8.81 crore in the corresponding period of last year. With the sharp improvement in profits, its EPS has taken a jump and reached at Rs 8.32 as against Rs 6.29 in the last period. The company's net sales increased by 37.3 per cent to Rs 78.01 crore from Rs 56.80 crore.

The company acquired DHP Ltd, a UK-based clinical trials services provider, during the quarter under review. DHP has its operations in Powys, UK with over 15 years of dedicated comprehensive service to the global pharmaceutical sector in the area of clinical trials services. With this acquisition, Bilcare achieves its first phase objective of establishing a truly global capability in one of the most critical activities in the pharma value chain - clinical trials services.

The company's net sales for the first half ended September 2006 increased to Rs 150.88 crore from Rs 109.10 crore in the similar period of last year. Its net profit touched to Rs 22.94 crore from Rs 16.83 crore, registering a rise of 36.3 per cent.
