Bio-Rad Laboratories India, in association with Quality Council of India (QCI) has organised the 3rd annual QC users meet on quality awareness and on quality control in clinical laboratories. The seminar focused on need for upgrading and maintaining laboratory quality, data management of quality control and laboratory accreditation ISO 15189.

The seminar held in Mumbai is the first amongst the four seminars planned at Chennai, Kolkata and Delhi. The seminar was attended by experts from QCI, which establishes and operates 'National Accreditation Structure' for assessment bodies, and from the National Accreditation Board for Laboratories (NABL), engaged in giving accreditation to laboratories.

Speaking on the occasion, Dr Venkatesh Thuppil, lead assessor, NABL said, "Laboratories must follow required quality assurance procedures, based on the internationally accepted statistical methodologies. Out of over one lakh laboratories in India, less than 75-80 laboratories are accredited, a dismally low figure for a country which is amongst the fastest developing in the world of healthcare," he further added.

Dhiren Wagle, the country manager for Bio-Rad Lab said "The company is working with various regulatory agencies towards its endeavour of providing quality control products and information services to the general public which makes use of its diagnostic product range."
