BioForce Nanosciences Inc, the leading developer of nanoarray biomolecular analysis systems, have released the second generation of its first tool for nanotechnology, the UV TipCleaner.

Researchers find the UV TipCleaner to be a very powerful tool, essential to any scanning microscopy laboratory, according to Collin Dettmann, Product Manager. He also states, "The UV TipCleaner is the first in a suite of products developed to enhance and maintain tools for microscopy and nanotechnology applications." The new unit enters into the market featuring a simpler design along with advanced components and mechanisms that enhance reliability. The launch of the new product is expected to increase sales by 50 per cent worldwide. Sales of the UV TipCleaner during the third quarter 2002 were the Company's best ever, with an increase of over 110 per cent, compared to Q3 2001.

The UV TipCleaner is a simple and effective method for preparing and cleaning Atomic Force Microscopy (AFM) probes and other surfaces. The unit contains a custom generator grid that provides intense UV irradiation and ozone. The UV and ozone act together to vaporize organic debris that accumulate on silicon, silicon/nickel, and diamond AFM probe tips. Use of the UV TipCleaner for probe preparation produces sharper, more accurate images for scientific publication, saving valuable research time and money. The TipCleaner provides benchtop convenience for cleaning, while the safety interlock prevents operator exposure to the UV light.
