Biomerica, Inc., a global medical technology company, has signed an exclusive agreement with one of Mexico's largest private pharmaceutical companies, PISA Farmaceutica Mexicana, for distribution of key Biomerica products in Mexico and numerous countries in Latin and Central America.

PISA Farmaceutica Mexicana will distribute three of Biomerica's unique point of care products: EZ Detect, the simplest, most effective home fecal occult blood test; EZ-PSA, a screening test to detect prostate cancer; and EZ-H.P, a blood test that determines the presence of the bacterium H. pylori, responsible for over 90 percent of all ulcers and stomach cancer.

PISA Farmaceutica Mexicana, since 1945, has manufactured and marketed products for the Mexican marketplace and it has developed a network of sales representatives for major cities in Central and South America. "We are excited by the opportunity to market these outstanding Biomerica products in Mexico, Venezuela, Colombia, Panama, Nicaragua, Costa Rica, Peru, Guatemala, Honduras, and elsewhere," said Lic. Francisco Javier Camacho, marketing director of PISA Farmaceutica Mexicana. The company also distributes products for well-known firms including Braun, Novo Nordisk, Leiras, Organon Teknika, Viragen, and others.

Biomerica's proprietary patented screening product EZ Detect is the simplest home test available to detect occult blood in the stool, an early warning sign of colorectal cancer. The product is sanitary, requiring no handling of stool, and has no dietary restrictions. The EZ Detect pad is tossed into the toilet after a bowel movement. A change in the pad's color to blue/green, which will appear within two minutes, indicates the presence of blood in the stool.

EZ-PSA is a one-step disposable test that requires only a small drop of blood from a finger prick. The blood is applied to a sample well, which will indicate within 10 minutes if the patient's level of PSA is elevated. This allows a physician to detect prostate cancer early, when cure rates are significantly higher. EZ-HP is a 5 minute one-step test for the detection of antibodies to Helicobacter pylori (H. pylori) as an aid in the diagnosis of peptic ulcers and stomach cancer.

"We are excited about this new partnership to introduce our life-saving products to the Central and Latin American markets with PISA, a company with a track record of marketing success. Through this agreement we have significantly increased our distribution throughout Mexico and Latin America," said Francis Capitanio, president of Biomerica Diagnostics.
