Bosch, a leading global supplier of technology and services, has bagged the Zinnov Awards for its Eyecare device that was adjudged as an innovation with a potential to solve large scale global problems.
The category recognises organisations that have successfully solved or are in the process of solving mega issues. Currently, the Bosch Eyecare device is a first of its kind solution in the ophthalmology space that seamlessly combines hardware, software and automation algorithms to offer the best value for money in its class.
“Winning this award reaffirms our commitment to solving mega issues. The Eyecare solution from Bosch finds application beyond India. Having proved the efficacy of the solution in India across different delivery formats such as vision centre, hospital, outreach/camp, clinic etc., Bosch is looking at addressing similar needs in markets such as Africa, SAARC, Middle-East, Brazil and beyond. At Bosch we are committed to offering more,” said Harsha Ramesh Angeri, head of Bosch Eyecare and Mergers and Acquisition, Bosch India.
Bosch is not just addressing the market catered by the traditional devices, but is also taking steps towards creating newer markets by sensitizing people about the problem of preventable blindness which has assumed disproportionate statistics in India, he added.
Its Eye camera operates on a rechargeable battery, thus making it lightweight and portable. The findings from the Eye camera can be shared over tele-medicine using the MediBilder software. The automated detection algorithm can detect and mark conditions like diabetic retinopathy, glaucoma and more conditions. These features enable offering comprehensive eye screening at primary level screening and ensure better point of care services. In addition, the modularity of the device allows wider coverage of diseases apart from that of the retina.
