Cadila gets DCGI clearance for import of 12 blood products

Ahmedabad based Cadila Healthcare Limited has received the approval of the Drugs Controller General of India to import and market 12 blood components from Behring GMBH, Germany in the country. The authorised agent for the import is Criticare Pharma, Mumbai.

The approved blood products are Anti-Haemophilic Factor III (Beriate P) 250 IU, 500 IU, 1000 IU - EP, Human Normal Immunoglobal Ion (IM) (Beriglobin P) - IP/EP, Anti Haemophilic Factor IX (Berinin P) 300 IU, 600 IU, 1200 IU - EP, Human Rabies Immunoglobulin (Berirab P) - EP, Human Normal Immunoglobulin I.V. (Gamma-Venin P) - IP/EP, Anti-Haemophilic Factor VIII, Lyophilised (Haemate P) 250 IU, 500 IU, 1000 IU - EP, Hepatitis B-Immunoglobulin P Behring - EP, Human Serum Albumin 20 % Behring Low Salt - EP, Kybernin P 500 IU, 1000 IU - EP, Human Anti D (RHO) Immunoglobulin (Matergam P) - EP, Human Tetenus Immunoglobulin (Tetagam P) - EP and Human Intravenous 7 S -Immunoglobulin (Venimmun N) - EP.

Delhi based United Biotech Pvt., Ltd., Life Medicare and Biotech Pvt. Ltd. and Baxter India Private Limited and Chennai based Medispan Limited are the other companies who have received approvals for import of blood products in India.

The DCGI has also given import registrations to nine companies dealing with critical diagnostics kits. Almost all companies, that received the approvals till February 28, 2003, are to import and market HIV kits in the country.

The companies who have been registered as the authorised agents for the import of the diagnostic kits are Abbott Healthcare Pvt Ltd, Qualigens Fine Chemicals, Rapid Diagnostics Pvt Ltd, Amar Immunodiagnostics, Roche Diagnostics India Pvt. Ltd., LG Chemical India Pvt. Ltd., Ruchi Corporation, Biomerieux India Pvt. Ltd., and Suyog Diagnostic Pvt Ltd.
