CCMB scientist bags INSA medal

Dr Ram Rup Sarkar, a scientist of the Centre for Cellular and Molecular Biology (CCMB), Hyderabad has been selected for the prestigious award of Indian National Science Academy (INSA) Medal for Young Scientist (2008) for his outstanding contributions in theoretical biology; ecology and epidemiology with a special emphasis on deterministic and stochastic modeling that are useful in monitoring, forecasting and controlling such systems. The Award carries a bronze medal, a cash prize of Rs 25, 000 and other incentives.

Dr Sarkar has completed his Ph.D., from Jadavpur University, Kolkata in 2004 and joined CCMB as a scientist and has already published more than 30 research papers in national and international journals. He has won several other awards including CSIR-DAAD Exchange of Scientist Fellowship, Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR) and DAAD, Germany, 2008 and delivered several lectures in India and abroad.
