Centre to start entrance test 'NEET' for admissions in PG medical and dental courses from 2013-2014
With a view to bring in better transparency and to streamline admission process of the post graduate medical and dental courses in the country, government will be soon introducing a single entrance examination to be known as 'the national eligibility-cum entrance test (NEET)', from the next academic year i.e. 2013-2014. The examination of NEET-PG test for admission to MD, MS, PG diploma courses offered by all the medical colleges and institutions coming under the ambit of the Medical Council of India (MCI) will be conducted by the National Board of Examination (NBE).
The first NEET-PG, for admissions in MD/MS/PG diploma courses in 2013-14 will be held online by NBE from November 23 to 6 December 2012 at various centres in 34 cities across the country. Details of NEET-PG for medical courses are available at www.nbe.gov.in/neetpg.
The NEET-PG for dental courses will be conducted by the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS), for admission in MDS courses offered by all the dental colleges and institution coming under the ambit of the Dental Council of India (DCI). As per the official press note, AIIMS will be notifying the dates of the examination in due course of time.
