Sree Gokulam Herbal Products, Chennai has launched a herbal mosquito repellent in the market, claimed to be the first of its kind hundred percent herbal mosquito repellent and free from any health hazards.

Branded as Gokulam Happy Night, the repellent is claimed to be harmless for even pregnant women and newborn babies, and for those suffering from ailments like asthma. The repellent is free from all side effects as it is prepared from herbal extracts with medicinal properties, unlike the other mosquito repellents available in the market, claimed company sources.

When compared to similar products, the herbal repellent is also cost-effective, noted the sources. While the liquid is available for Rs.74 per pack usable for more than 100 nights, the Rs.38 a pack containing 12 rolls, each with a burning time of 90 minutes with protection from mosquito attacks for 10 hours, is usable for 20 nights. If the roll is used for three continuous nights, the user need not use it in the next two nights, said the sources.

Sources said the research and product development wing at Sree Gokulam is in the process of developing innovative healthcare and utility products, and many similar products are in the pipeline. The company had launched a herbal sambrani made from natural resins, which is also a mosquito repellent. The company also deals in over 450 types of dried herbs for home décor, aromatherapy etc. The company has set up a full-fledged plant, located about seven kilometers from the Chennai airport to manufacture the herbal products.

Sree Gokulam Herbal Products (SGHP) is part of the Sree Gokulam group, prominent in Tamilnadu and Kerala industrial scenario with forays into finance, super markets, hotels, public transport, printing & packaging, biotechnology, handicraft exports, educational institutions etc. The group also runs a medical college.
