CII, KAPL jointly conduct meet on research methodology for Ayurvedic formulations

The Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) Kerala, in association with the Kerala Ayurveda Pharmacy Ltd. (KAPL), organized a one-day seminar in Kochi this week to discuss various research methodologies for standardization of Ayurvedic products.

Attended by more than 300 delegates and experts from various parts of the country, the meet - 'Ayurvedic Research Methodology - Formulations', observed that while numerous herbal products are flooded in the global markets targeting single remedies, therapeutic value of traditional medicines of Ayurveda still remain as an effective combination therapy system aimed at the whole body. The meet discussed contemporary trends and policies related to Ayurveda, nutraceuticals, pharmacological research methodologies applicable to Ayurvedic formulation etc, said the sources.

According to Dr.S.K.Sharma, Advisor (Ayurveda) to Department of Indian Systems of Medicine, the Ayurvedic community in the country should effectively utilize modern research and drug development methodologies and tools to face the challenges of future, without sacrificing the values of our ancient medicinal heritage.

The experts who spoke on the occasion included Dr.Narendra Bhatt, general secretary of Ayurveda Drug Manufacturers Association (ADMA), T.R.Rahubal, vice chairman of CII-Kerala, Dr.P.Pushpangadan, director of National Botanical Research Institute, Lucknow, Prof.S.S.Handa, scientific advisor to Zandu Pharmaceuticals etc. said sources.
