ClinWorld plans to invest Rs 30 crore to strengthen existing facilities

The Mumbai based contract research organisation ClinWorld, clinical research arm of the Sami Labs Ltd, will invest Rs 30 crore in the next three years to strengthen the existing facilities in Bombay and Banglore.

The new investment plans is in lines with the Clin World's plan to trigger phase I, II and III human trials and efficacy trial in animals. The Clin World, which is currently doing non-animal pre-clinical research and testing for evaluating toxicity and efficacy, will trigger efficacy trial in animals once the new facilities are added, sources said.

Talking Pharmabiz Sameer J Nair, chief operating officer, Clin World (P) Ltd, said, "the company's move to strengthen its current facilities came, as India is turning into a hot destination for clinical researches. We are also planning to develop tie-ups with several foreign companies and discussions in this regard are under progress. Clin World is also looking forward to add the number of clients."

He added that the company in association with an Australian university would commence research in Australia by the end of 2007. A team from Clin World will monitor this joint research activity and as part of this move Clin World will set up a centre in Australia shortly.

The Clin World, which is currently doing phase III trail 'psoriasis' in different localities, including Bombay, Banglore, and Salem, has recently got approval for 'porskolim eye drops'. The trail of the same has conducted in eight centres, including Bombay, Banglore, Mangalore and Salem, in compliance with the ICH-GCP guidelines, sources added.
