Delhi police seizes 100 kgs of spurious drugs made in Agra, Meerut and Ghaziabad

The Delhi Police seized 100 kg of spurious medicines in raids carried out early this week. Three persons allegedly the master brains behind the racket have been arrested. The drugs seized include spurious versions of Nise (Dr Reddys), Shelcal 500 (Elder), Calcium Sandoz injections (Novartis), R-Cinex (Lupin), Aciloc 300 (Cadila), Betadine Solution (Win Medicare) to name a few. The drugs are manufactured in factories located at Agra, Meerut and Ghaziabad.

According to Police sources, the raid was conducted after a tip off about the presence of an organized gang engaged in the procurement and supply of spurious drugs in the capital region. The raid led to the seizure of 20 kg of fake drug and also to the arrest of Pawan Varshney and two of his associates, allegedly the masterminds behind the illegal activity. Further interrogations led to raiding seven godowns and shops in Aligarh where 80 kgs of stocks were detected.

It is understood that the accused confessed to the police of having been in the business for the last six years. The drugs were to be redistributed to Delhi and other areas in UP like Hardwar, Harthras, Allahabad, Mathura, Aligarh, Muzzafarnagar and Dadri.

Police informed that investigation is on to nab others involved in the racket.
