DIPSAR principal gets honorary degree of science from RGT University
Prof. Shyam S Agrawal, principal Delhi Institute of Pharmaceutical Science and Research (DIPSAR) has been conferred with the honorary degree of Doctor of Science (Honoris Causa) from Rajiv Gandhi Technological University (University of Technology of Madhya Pradesh) recently, at the 4th convocation of the university.
Prof. Agrawal received the award from Balram Jhakar, the chancellor of the university as well as the Governor of Madhya Pradesh. G Madhavan Nair, chairman, Indian Space Research Organization also received this award at the same day of convocation.
RGTU awarded Prof Agrawal for his distinguished services in the field of pharmaceutical sciences, research and innovation and his contribution to advance the knowledge of pharmacology. He obtained masters and PhD in pharmacology from AIIMS, and served as a professor since 1990. He has been working as principal DIPSAR since 1995. He is also an executive member of Pharmacy Council of India (PCI) and Delhi Pharmacy Council (DPC).
Prof Agrawal has seven patents to his credit and has applied for 16 more patents. His areas of research are antifertility and infertility studies, novel drug delivery system like TDDS, formulation of polyherbal formulation for hepatoprotective action, genome research and clinical research. Three of his patented technologies have been taken up by NRDC (National Research Development Cooperation) for commercialisation.
