Delhi Pharmaceutical Trust (DPT) has brought out a book titled ‘Presidential Wisdom’ which documents the presidential address of the annual Indian Pharmaceutical Congress.

The key objective of the publication of the DPT is to record for posterity the focus of the themes of each IPC held annually across the country. The Presidential Wisdom covers the address of its presidents from the 51st to 65th IPC.  Earlier, Dr DBA Narayana, author/editor, along with Mohan C Bazaz, had released Quintessential Wisdom Part I and II which documented the presidential addresses of which documented the All India Pharmaceutical Conferences.

The Quintessential Wisdom contains the first IPCA president ML Shroff who addressed the event in 1948 at Kolkata till the 50th IPC led by Prof. Chandrakanth Kokate in 1998 at Mumbai. Prof. Harkishan Singh helped in the publication of Quintessential Wisdom II with 12 presidential addresses of All India Pharmaceutical Conferences held from 1941 to 1952 which is prior to the formation of Indian Pharmaceutical Congress Association (IPCA) which was edited by DBA Narayana, managing Trustee, DPT.

The Presidential Wisdom has covered the address of BN Thakore from the 51st IPC held between December 18-20,1999 at Indore. The 52nd IPC was held at Hyderabad from December 17-19,2000 addressed by C Gopalakrishna Murthy. The 53, IPC was held at New Delhi had SK Kulkarni as its president. The 54th edition of the event was held at Pune features VB Desai address. The 55th IPC at Chennai in 2003 had Ashwini Kumar to deliver the presidential address. In 2004, at the 56th edition, it was Pankaj R Patel . The 2005, 57 the edition at Hyderabad had VC Nannapaneni. In 2006, for the 58th edition at Mumbai, it was Prof. B Suresh. In 2007, for the 59th edition at Varanasi it was HP Tipnis. The 6oth edition at New Delhi was headed by Late M Venkateswarlu in 2008. The 61st edition at Ahmedabad in 2009 was headed by  SW Deshpande. The 62nd edition held in 2010 was at Manipal and led by SL Nasa. The 63rd edition in 2011 was held at Bengaluru was led by Subodh Priolkar. The 64 edition in 2012 was held at Chennai with K Chinnasamy and the 65th edition at Noida in 2013 was led by Atul Kumar Nasa.

The 134-paged Presidential Wisdom gives the complete addresses of the IPC presidents, who have eloquently captured the nuances of the each year and provided their view on the future direction of the industry.
